the family
You are the first born child of your family, and will eventually end up being the only child. Your mother would have wanted another child but when you are three years old she is told she can no longer give birth to any children unless she would prefer dying during childbirth. It's a terrible thing to say to a woman who's one dream in life was to get married and have a family. So she decides that since she can't have a family she will do something else instead and starts her own magazine line. Your father, a big time lawyer, is already rarely home. Your parents love each other, there's no question there, but they don't really seem to love you very much. Or at least that is what you believe as a child. Your mother was always around when you were young, and then you turn four and suddenly she's only around for supper time and to tuck you in at night. You think you did something wrong and that's what pushed her to be away a lot more. So whatever the nanny tells you to do, you just do it, in hopes that your mother notices and praises you for it.
She never does. You've formed a bond with your nanny and she's almost more of a mother to you than your actual mother is. She isn't one of those women who live off in their own little apartment and have to feed their twenty-seven babies. No, Ana stays at your place. She has her own room there and doesn't have a family of her own to take care of. You are her family, and she seems quite content that way. When you start school, Ana is the one who walks you there, holding your hand and making sure you know exactly where she will pick you up. You hug her before rushing into the school, and everyone seems to think she's your mother. You don't bother correcting them, instead you let them be surprised when those parent teacher things come around and they meet your actual mother (although she doesn't bother showing up to most of those anyways).
When you become older things seem to get a little better. Instead of working for another firm, your father starts his own lawyer firm so he has a little more time to be at home, even if it means doing work in his study. Your mother hires an assistant to do the work while she isn't there, and she starts to spend a little more time at home too. By the time that happens though you are already fifteen and confident that you don't particularly want them to be around more. Ana does the job just fine. As do those girls you spend some time with. You don't sleep with many of them, but you do often go out on dates with them. It's just that easy for you to get dates. You refuse to just use them for sex though, since you do have some gentlemen like qualities, as much as they might not be so evident.
the schooling
you aren't one of those nerdy guys who spend their time doing homework and nothing else. rather, you barely study at all. things just sort of come naturally to you. your grades are quite impressive considering this fact, and you actually take pride in the fact that you managed to get through high school with great grades and a rather decent popularity status. Gossip Girl had been quite a big help on that end, especially since you just aren't the type to go for relationships but you go on dates every couple days with different girls. You don't sleep with any of them unless you are excessively bored, simply want to do it, or they get too whiny about wanting to sleep with you. You don't advertise it, nor do you flaunt it like some of the other guys do. You don't need other guys' approvals to be confident in who you are. Just being Lawrence James Llewellyn is enough for that. And that leads you to being valedictorian of your graduating class at st Jude's, something your parents don't even notice it seems. You ignore that though, and just let it get slightly up to your head.
That confidence, which borders on cockiness, only intensifies when you get accepted into Columbia in the Law department. As little relationship you had with your father you still admired his work, and came to the conclusion that you want to do exactly as he did. Become a lawyer. Getting in Columbia becomes your greatest achievement to date in your life, and even if your parents don't really congratulate you on it, Ana sure does. She gets quite ecstatic about it, and that is enough for you.
So you spend four years at Columbia. With summer courses crammed into the mix you manage to get a degree in those four years. Sure, you had to work for it, but in the end it was quite worth it. When the invitation comes in the mail for graduation your father finally looks you and offers you an intern spot in his firm. It might not be ideal, and you'd love to continue some studies to get a higher degree, but you accept. It's finally a sign that you aren't nobody and that your parents might actually care about you. Neither shows up to graduation, although your father does leave you a little note telling you good luck.
the rest
You have a good heart. You've always known it. You just don't show it. You don't completely hid it, since you don't act like those jerks in school who pretend their mightier than thou. You have the decency to not be a complete idiot and act like a jerk to the girls of Constance, no matter what. You rather keep it for the idiotic morons of St. Jude's. You have no patience, and you know it quite well. Nor is it easy for you to keep your temper in check at times, but you make an effort at it. You can also get quite stubborn when you want, but that doesn't mean you're not a nice guy. It just means you have your own faults, and you're quite happy that way.
