WIRE ME UP TO MACHINES I’ll be your prisoner [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;]
Joshua had sat through his fiancés performance of ‘how to succeed in business’. Broadway musicals really weren’t his thing at all but he made the effort to come every once in a while to show that he was supporting her. While the show itself was okay, he’d really only been watching Stori as she moved about the stage. He was lucky to have her, and to have given her the ring; he knew she was popular with guys and he could be easily replaced, but their relationship was stronger than that. Unfortunately for Josh, he couldn’t help but get jealous now and then. Josh had sat at the bar in the interval, and had chatted with a bartender he’d befriended. He hated the bar during the interval, listening to comments about her from guys who’s wives had dragged them along and were away powdering their noses. Some people knew who he was; he was a regular feature on gossip girl, and he was often seen out and about with his fiancé. It really was, in his opinion, the best way to warn people off his girl. He knew if he didn’t make an appearance then people would think he didn’t care, people would think that she was available. And Astoria was anything but available.
After the show, he made his way back stage, in his hand, a bunch of red roses for her performance. It would be a surprise since he’d actually planned on going out with his friends that night, but one of them had been called into work and the other got a date. It wasn’t a huge problem, despite the fact that the show was sold out, because Josh had contacted Astoria’s agent and been sorted out with a seat in one of the boxes. He adjusted his suit jacket as he wandered through the familiar corridors of the backstage area, greeting her cast and crew as he did so. Astoria’s changing room was at the end of the corridor, and as he neared it he could smell her perfume. A smile cast on his lips as he knocked on the door twice, giving her time to cover herself up if she wasn’t exactly decent, and then he walked in. A grin fell on his lips as he seen her and then presented her with the flowers. " Thought I’d surprise you. " He greeted her, as he kissed her cheek. " Fancy grabbing some food? " Josh knew it was likely that she’d have something planned with the rest of the cast to celebrate their performance given they hadn’t planned to see each other, but he couldn’t help but wonder if she’d maybe blow them off for a night with him.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] YOU GIVE ME THE HUMMING BIRD HEARTBEAT, SPREAD MY WINGS AND MAKE ME FLY. The Words: 972 The Outfit: here! The Notes c: they're cute ! astoria had arrived at the theatre at around three-thirty in the afternoon to start warming up and getting ready for the show that night. she had spent most of her day getting errands done, looking at wedding dresses, and even starting to plan a few minor details. she didn't want to do much without sitting down with her fiance, but she couldn't help but scan different websites, especially checking in on gossip girl. it was fun to be the new 'serena' of the upper east side. or she supposed, the old one, now that she wasn't in high school anymore. everyone knew about her engagement to joshua and she was proud that people knew she was off the market for good. after all, they had been dating for six years and she was every bit in love with him as she was on their first date. they were inseparable, and a bit of a power couple around manhattan. after all, everyone knew who both of them were and his entire family and hers, it wasn't too hard.
as she waited side stage to go on, she couldn't help but think about josh and is absence tonight, not that he attended all of her shows. he was hanging out with the guys and astoria certainly didn't mind. she liked letting her fiance do his own thing. after all, it wasn't like she owned him or anything. he was still his own person and she let him do whatever he wanted. after about three hours, she could feel herself perspiring as she took her bow, waving to the audience before she made her way downstairs to her dressing room at the end of the hall. the star hanging on the door read 'astoria lennox as 'rosemary pilkington' and she couldn't help but grin every time she came into contact with her door. she turned the knob and entered her room, sitting down in front of the large mirror and beginning to remove her tights and clothes, stripping down quickly as she hung her costumes up on the rack in her room. she stood up and leaned in to the mirror, humming to herself as she removed her stage makeup.
she could hear the cast outside bustling as they hurried to get out of the theater so they could go out to dinner and drinks. stori took her time, however, not rushing herself. she liked to bask in the light of her dressing room. after all, not everyone could have their own. she heard them greeting someone, but she ignored it. there were always guests and visitors and she'd meet them on her time when she was ready. she pulled on her skinny jeans and a yellow chiffon blouse and her black blazer over the top to keep her warm. she sat back down and began to pull on her combat boots when she heard a knock at the door and was puzzled as to who it could be. she hadn't been expecting anyone except maybe her cast mates telling her they were leaving soon. "i'll be just----" she stopped when the door opened and in walked her lovely fiance, handsome as always and she couldn't help but instantly beam as he walked in and she stood up to greet him.
she gratefully accepted the flowers and his kiss on her cheek. I thought I'd surprise you. she laughed and nodded her head, holding the flowers just under her nose to smell them. "well you certainly did, dear," she replied pulling him into a one-armed hug. over his shoulder, she could see people pausing in the hallway to wink at them and silently exclaim how happy they were. she smiled and winked, pulling away from him and setting the flowers on her counter. his next question threw her for a loop, since she had been planning to go for dinner, but based off of the gestures and expressions she was getting from the hallway as people began to scatter, she could tell they wouldn't mind her leaving for one night. "you know what, i would love that! let me just grab my bag," she answered him happily. she went to grab her purse and unplugged her phone charger, winding it around her hand and setting it in her bag. she slipped her iphone into her back pocket and went back to the flowers. she held them as she grabbed a vase off a shelf and filled it with water, setting the flowers inside.
she went back to josh and pulled her bag up on her shoulder, wrapping her arms around one of his, pushing him out the door gently and closing it behind her. "i can't believe you're here! i thought you were spending your time with 'the boys'," she teased him lightly. she pulled him to face her and stopped in her spot, reaching up to kiss him properly on the lips. she felt like she hadn't seen him all day, but she knew that soon that would all change, now that they were searching for houses to move in together. she felt a sinking feeling in her stomach though as she recalled what the doctor told her a few days ago. she would never be able to have children. she decided she wouldn't tell him for a while and just let things go on as normal. they were so happy and she didn't want to ruin it. "so where shall we go?" she asked as they stepped out the back door. she was surprise that the crowd was already gone. usually people hounded her for her autograph and pictures, but she could see that the area was cleared up and everyone had probably gone home. |

WIRE ME UP TO MACHINES I’ll be your prisoner [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] He heard her voice through the door but walked in anyway. He’d seen her in all sorts of states and so the fact that she’d be getting undressed or redressed wouldn’t phase him, he just wanted to give her an alert that someone was about to enter her dressing room. He wasn’t sure why, but every time he came to meet her after a show; particularly when it was unexpected, he half anticipated walking in on her hooking up with someone. He knew it was irrational because it would never happen; and he trusted her more than he trusted anyone else, but it was probably his greatest fear, which was only exacerbated by the fact that she was famous and that he couldn’t be around to protect her from sleaze bags. But just as always, Astoria was alone, and her face lit his up when he saw her.
She smelt her flowers and as she pulled him into a one armed hug, he took a deep breath and took in her scent; he loved her smell. " Well then it was worth it. " He smirked. Josh glanced back at her friends as they winked and swooned over the couple. He blushed a little and ran a hand over his head, hiding his awkwardness from the stage crew. He loved Astoria more than she knew but he often got embarrassed by the way people perceived their relationship. He has no problems with holding hands or kissing in public, but he hated the fact that some of her friends put him and the way he was with her; on a pedestal. He grinned as she agreed to come out with him, " Just thought we hadn’t really spent much time together this week; but if you have other plans…" Josh shrugged, watching as she grabbed her belongings and put her flowers in a vase. He’d been working night shift a lot lately, which meant that he’d be sleeping on a morning and wake up in the afternoon when she went to work. It wasn’t ideal but it was just the nature of their work, and so when he got the opportunity he liked to surprise her.
Joshua led the way out of the door and laughed as she commented on his evening plans. " Yeah I was meant to be, but Jack got a date and Sean was called into work. So I figured I’d come and watch your show. As usual, you were amazing. " He smirked as she stopped him, and kissed him. He kissed her back, his hands finding her waist, before he pulled away and looked into her eyes. Joshua took her hand and led her out f the back door; pleased that her fans had disappeared. He really didn’t want to have to hover around waiting for her to sign autographs and get her picture taken. " Well, I’ve booked your favourite restaurant if you’re up for it? " He asked her making the presumption that she would be. It was good being the son of a politician because he could book a restaurant last minute and still get his favourite table.
New York was beautiful at night, and he liked the hustle and bustle and all of the lights. Josh took his fiancés hand and led her in the direction of the restaurant. " My dad’s PA has found us another house, if you want to go view it tomorrow? " He suggested, figuring that it would be good to decide on a house soon so that they could have it sorted and move in once they were married. His parents were quite traditional in the fact that they wanted Josh to be married before he moved in with Astoria, despite the fact that it wasn’t exactly how their relationship had started out. So for now, Josh had his own apartment, but that didn’t stop him from staying at Astoria’s or having her over at his.
Josh held open the door for his fiancé and shook the hand of the restaurant owner. Joshua was well known in the upper east side, which had its pros and cons. It certainly opened doors for him, but at the same time it meant that him and his actions were in the lime light. He led his girl to their favourite table and he pulled out her chair. " I was thinking, I’m off this weekend, maybe we could do something. " Josh offered, figuring that they should really get on top of the plans for their wedding. They still had plenty of time to arrange things but time would soon tick away if they didn’t get on to it soon.

The Notes c: they're cute ! if there was one thing astoria was truly talented at, it was reading people and their emotions and reactions. she could, often times, see the way other guys looked at her and she knew she was sort of like a 'sex object', especially back in high school. it was quite blatantly obvious, but she wasn't surprised by the fact simply because that was how astoria had acted in high school before she started dating joshua. she was so into herself and put herself on this pedestal above everyone else, but now she started to mellow out now that she had josh by her side. she had been told almost every night how beautiful she was, but these days, she didn't let it affect her. the only person it mattered from was her fiance, josh, and that made her the happiest. astoria could guess that he worried about her when he wasn't around. even when they were on dates sometimes, if someone would eye her, josh would become territorial at times, and she didn't mind it, seeing as it never really bothered her. however, she did feel bad for him, hoping he wouldn't get too worked up.
while astoria was a wild child in high school and granted, she was quite narcissistic and flirtatious and charming, there was one thing she wasn't and that was a cheater. she was loyal to the man she loved, after all, they'd been together for six years and the gossip was always about when they were getting married and here they were. she took a minute to look at her ring as she sat there, turning it here and there on her finger. she was ecstatic and still, to this day, couldn't believe her good luck in finding such a wonderful person to marry. as josh entered the room and she hugged him, she couldn't help but take in everything about him. the way he smelled, the way his hair kind of stood up, his beautiful blue eyes. everything about josh made astoria giddy, like a little school girl. his smirk gave her butterflies and she couldn't help but laugh lightly. "oh, i have no other plans. my night is designated for you," she laughed and planted a kiss on his cheek. this guy meant the world to her and she knew she was incredibly lucky to have him.
as she turned to put the flowers in the vase, she could see him kind of blocking the people from the hallway out of his vision. she knew he wasn't one for the extreme spotlight right under his nose from her castmates so she simply chuckled to herself and looked up in the mirror at him, loving the way he blushed when he got embarrassed. "well, then i'm glad your friends were busy so that we got a chance for our own date night. and thank you. probably only amazing because i could sense you were there tonight," she teased him with a smirk. as they pulled away from their kiss, astoria couldn't help but feel a rush throughout her entire body. even when they kissed, everything felt right. well i booked your favorite restaurant, if you're up for it? this was what she loved about josh. he knew everything about her and remembered every little detail. she loved that she never had to worry about anything. "of course i'm up for it, dinner with my favorite blue-eyed man," she beamed, looking up at him.
she took his hand and followed him through the city, making their way to the restaurant. "definitely! i would love to go look at more houses. hopefully nothing too exotic," she laughed. she had always dreamed of having a huge estate, but classy and quite homey, rather than owning decor that looked as though it could never be sat on. once inside, she nodded with a smile at the restaurant owner and watched as josh shook his hand. she smirked slightly. connections. she thought with a grin. they went off to their favorite table and she sat down as he pushed the chair in for her, taking his own seat opposite from her. "we could mini stay-cation at my house. start to think about plans, cuddle in bed, i can cook, watch movies. we need to still finish the guest list. we have like two hundred people already on it and i feel like we're still missing some," she laughed. she reached across the table for his hand and squeezed it lightly, looking down at their hands for a moment before looking up at him with a bright smile. "i can't believe this is actually happening." sometimes, she still couldn't comprehend what was going to be happening to her soon and her whole life was changing and then she knew that eventually...she would have to tell him about the children situation and she was terrified over how he was going to handle that talk. |

WIRE ME UP TO MACHINES I’ll be your prisoner [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Josh had started dating Astoria when she was fourteen; he’d been sixteen at the time. It was a long time and one hell of a commitment; as his friends kept reminding him. Sure Astoria was ultra hot, but his friends were convinced that he should have had more sexual experience before putting a ring on her finger. Other than Astoria, he’d only ever been with one girl who he lost his virginity to, it had been a disaster and he’d regretted every minute of it. To him, it wasn’t a big deal that he was going to be married young to the girl who he was madly in love with. It wasn’t a problem that he’d only been with two girls in his life because Astoria was the girl for him. Every time he was with her was like a new discovery. She was perfect in every way and so he was happy with their plans. He was lucky; since she’d been a bit wild in high school; and he’d managed to tame her; well enough so that she didn’t lose her spark.
He smiled as she confirmed that she would spend her evening with him. It was lucky since he’d already booked the restaurant and he was dressed smart just in case. ”Good, I was hoping you’d say that… not that I want you to pick me over your friends but, I’d say I was the better deal.” He smirked, and moved his lips to collide with hers as she attempted to kiss his cheek. He rose his eyebrows as she told him that she was glad he was here. ”Well, I was looking forward to my night out with the boys, but I couldn’t resist turning up and surprising you. You had no idea that I was here so don’t pretend like you’re not always amazing.” He was sweet, and he always tried to make her feel special by turning up unannounced or buying her treats that she didn’t expect. He’d done the same sort of thing when he’d asked her to marry him. It had been unexpected because they were in the middle of a fight, and the words just rolled off his tongue. Needless to say the fight ended and they spent the rest of the evening curled up in each other’s arms before even contacting their parents. His mother had thought he was too young; she loved Astoria but Joshua, in her opinion wasn’t old enough to be married, despite the fact that he’d already moved out. He grinned as she confirmed his dinner reservations and he kissed her head. ”I’d hope I was your favourite.” Josh added as he stared into her eyes.
He had no idea what his father’s personal assistant had found for them, but all he knew was that they should look at it sooner rather than later because it was popular. ”I’d hardly think it’ll be too exotic. I think it’s an old house.” He told her, trying to remember some of the spec. He’d sort of been busy when his father had called and so he hadn’t taken on board too much of the details but he had been told they would like it a lot. ”The sooner we buy one the better; that way I can start doing it up the way we want it, then we can move in when your Astoria Oakley.” He smirked, liking the way her married name sounded, although he half expected she would keep her own name given it was what she was known as in the world of Broadway. Joshua had said from the start that he was keen to decorate most of their new home themselves, although it was much to the protest of his parents who wanted it done by a professional. He knew he’d probably only have time to do maybe one room, and so he was determined to make sure that he got the option rather than letting his pushy parents take over.
He sat opposite her at the table, not needing to look at the menu since he got the same thing every time they came here. Joshua cocked an eyebrow at her suggestion and smirked playfully. ”I like the idea of cuddling up in bed… the rest, well… it sounds too much like hard work.” He sighed obviously joking, although her words rang in his head. ”I’m sure we don’t need two hundred people coming. I only ever wanted a small wedding.” He told her, knowing that he would just go along with whatever it was she wanted him to do. But the thought of reading his vows out in front of so many people kind of freaked him out. She took his hand and he smiled as she squeezed it. ”Well it is, and you said yes so your stuck with me.” He grinned proudly, staring into her eyes. ”Just think, we’ll get married, move into our new house, and then it’ll not be long before I knock you up.” He chuckled. Josh had made it very clear for the past two years that he wanted to be a father, but since his parents were rather traditional, and the fact that Stori was two years his junior; he had agreed that they would wait. He wasn’t sure why it was so important to him, but it was and he was sure that they’d both make great parents. It could only bring them closer together… right?

The Words: 972 The Outfit: here! The Notes c: they're cute ! astoria could still remember her freshman year when they first started dating. it was like they were in their honeymoon stage for almost three years and then the fights happened, though they seemed to work through everything. every couple fought and astoria was never worried about their relationship falling apart. but, she was well aware of the people talking about them behind her back. she knew that sometimes his guy friends would badger him because he had only been with two girls, including herself. astoria had to be honest, she could understand where they were coming from. even at fourteen, she had only been with one other person and it really didn't mean much. however, she knew she was head over heels for this boy and even if that meant she'd only actually really been with one guy, she didn't mind. you loved who you loved and nothing could change that and she was happy with joshua. her parents saw it coming and when he proposed, neither of them said much. her older sister, however, made a huge deal of it, claiming that she was too young and immature, but astoria settled down a lot since she was in high school and she knew that she and josh could do whatever and they'd get through everything together.
she laughed at his comment, a smile crossing her features. "i guess you're a better catch than they are," she laughed. she was slightly surprised as he turned to meet her lips with his own and she couldn't help but smile into their kiss. she loved his silly antics, especially when he pulled something like that with her. she blushed at his words, lowering her eyes for a moment. she was quite humble about her performances. after all, she knew she could keep growing as a performer with each show she tackled. she knew that this, being her first show, she'd get tons of criticism, but so far, it wasn't bad at all. she just liked to remain modest. " you are my favorite," she responded with a grin. she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, pushing it out of her face as she watched him and nodded. she remembered the first few houses they saw. everything was so upscale and eccentric and she wasn't a big fan of it. "well that's good. hopefully no haunted ones," she joked with a smirk.
as he began speaking she couldn't help but dream of their future life together. soon she'd be out of her apartment, away from most people, and living with the boy she loved. "i love the way that sounds," she beamed. astoria oakley. she was unsure if she was going to keep her last name, but she figured she may just hyphenate it. she laughed and squeezed his hand again, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "oh come on, it's not a lot of work! well, it is, but my sister's going to help as much as she can to lighten the load and i mean, you don't have to worry about colors and dresses! your job is easy compared to me," she teased him with a light laugh. his last comment threw her for a loop and she found her smile slowly fading from her lips as she realized that she had to tell him soon. well, not over dinner. perhaps when they got home. her heart began pounding and she let go of his hand, pulling away for a moment. to save her, luckily, the waiter came and began asking what they wanted and she felt a breath of relief. she ordered the usual thing she ate and as he left she turned back to him, replacing the smile as if to seem as though nothing was wrong. "definitely, i'm excited to be living together," she smiled. she didn't want to bring up the children thing, feeling her heart catch in her throat. she felt awful keeping this secret from him. she knew how much he had wanted to be a dad. "what about your brothers? how are they taking this whole wedding idea?" she asked him to avoid talking about kids. |

WIRE ME UP TO MACHINES I’ll be your prisoner [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: B8B8B8; border: #550505 solid 4px; width: 400px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] Joshua couldn’t get enough of staring into her eyes; the touch of her skin was electric. He was well and truly hooked on her, and he was sure that after six years she was the girl he was meant to be with. Sure he observed other beautiful women, he would have been blind not to; but he didn’t look at them the way he looked at Astoria. From the look in his eyes people could tell that he was deeply into her. The connection they had was intense, but there was still a burning passion between them; the type most couples lost after the first few years. Despite the protests from his friends, his mother, brothers, and her sister; he was really happy to be engaged to her.
He smirked as she confirmed that she’d rather spend her time with him. ”Well, I’d hope so since your going to spend the rest of your life with me.” He wrapped his arms around her waist from behind and kissed her neck. ”I’m sure you’ll want to trade me in after the next fifty years of me annoying you.” He laughed as he nibbled on her neck teasingly. He loved making her feel good about herself, especially when it came to her acting ability. He knew most men wouldn’t have been that supportive; he knew most men would have pushed her dreams aside and expected her to get a more regular job, but Josh had been one of the people who’d encouraged her to do what she wanted; and she’d succeeded. He wanted her to believe in herself as much as he believed in her. He let go of her and laughed a little as she spoke of the house being haunted. ”Well if it is, I’ll protect you. Unless it’s a creepy kid ghost then you can protect me.” He teased her, as it was common knowledge that movies with ghost children in them, freaked him out.
Joshua grinned as she admitted her love for his surname when it accompanied her first name. ”Yeah I love it too. Do you think you’re going to change your name or have you not decided?” He asked her, hoping that she would take his last name, but it was her decision. Josh rolled his eyes and sighed, ”It’s a hell of a lot of work, and I don’t want your sister taking over. She’s bound to interfere. She didn’t even want us to get married in the first place!” He protested, sighing again. Josh liked Astoria’s sister, but he hated the fact that she’d always been judgemental about him and hadn’t supported their engagement to begin with. ”I’d help you pick the dress but you won’t let me. Plus I think I’d be too tempted to screw you in the changing rooms wearing the dress.” He pulled an amused but semi-innocent face as he bit his bottom lip feeling cheeky. He didn’t notice anything wrong as she pulled away and the waiter came. He ordered his food and he then focused his attention back on Astoria. ”I can’t wait to wake up next to you every morning, or sneak into bed with you after nights.” He smirked, wishing they could spend more time at each other’s apartments but the way things were with work and what not it just wasn’t convenient. Josh shrugged his shoulders as she asked about his brothers. ”Jacob thinks I’m crazy, and he thinks your too good for me, and Damien’s indifferent… about everything.” He shrugged smiling at the waiter as he brought over a bottle of wine for the two. ”I was meant to ask you to this charity event… my dad’s hosting it, he wants us to be there… don’t even know when it is.” Joshua was pretty useless at relaying information but he knew that his father’s PA, would remind him a few days before the event.
The fireman glanced over at his girl and smiled at her. ”I can’t wait to start forever with you. I know I tell you all the time, but when I’m old and I’ve lost my marbles, and our grandchildren are causing havoc in our big old house; you can forgive me for not telling you how happy you make me.” He was a bit of a softy, but he just couldn’t wait to have a family with her. Some people thought he was rushing his life away before he’d had a chance to live, but Joshua truly believed that he and Astoria were meant to be.
